Friday 16th June 2006 Young Poker Pro Makes History
Shannon Shorr, an Alabama college student and poker pro, has made history by becoming the youngest poker player to reach a final table in a World Series of Poker, No Limit Circuit Event at Harrah's Casino, in Lake Tahoe, Nevada.
And if that wasn’t enough, the following day he succeeded in final tabling another No Limit event, making him the youngest player to ever make two consecutive final tables.
The 21-year-old begun playing online, developing his hobby into a career and was placed second and third in the tournaments respectively, cashing in for nearly $40,000.
Shorr’s professional career was launched when he beat several notable pros at The Aussie Millions Championship in Melbourne, Australia. Cashing in at close to $250,000, this was Shorr’s first live tournament.
Shorr, who turned 21 on June 7th, is now legally able to play in the USA on the World Poker Tour. He will be moving to Las Vegas at the end of this month where he has already won a seat in the prestigious World Series of Poker Main Event, which will air later in the year from the Rio Casino.
