Venetian Poker Room Already In a Tight Spot

Much touted when it opened at the start of April, the Venetian’s new poker room is said to be slowly edging toward collapse. Although it’s the third largest poker room in Vegas, behind Caesars Palace and the Bellagio, the Venetian has managed only to attract the ninth largest share of the poker market since April 2nd. Without asses filling seats, things are looking grim, especially seeing as it’s only been open seven weeks. Their ninth spot in the market means they have only seen 4% of the available punters pass through the door, as opposed to the Bellagio’s 20%. Only one fifth of the seats in the poker room are in use. Rumour has it that Venetian bosses remain bullish about their prospects, predicting that a sustained TV campaign will get new business in. It appears to be a forlorn hope at best.
