Virus Hits Betfair Users

Last week it was Ladbrokes Poker at the centre of an online security scam, after an employee was alleged to have siphoned off up to $30,000,000 in punters’ money. This week, Betfair also found themselves on the end of some unwelcome attention. It appears that a rogue user has caused a number of players’ PCs to be infected with the vicious Trojan horse virus. This is of particular concern because it can lead to hackers gaining access to sensitive information, most likely bank and credit card details. Betfair was alerted to the problem after a post directed users to a story on the BBC website about employee fraud. Although it was obviously not a BBC site page, some users were unable to shut down the window in time and found their PCs were infected. With the prospect of mass fraud a grim reality, Betfair has advised customers to be on the look out for anything suspicious and told those effected to contact their security provider.
