Full Tilt Poker Backs Poker’s Olympic Bid

Full Tilt Poker, the new software that some of the world’s greatest players helped to design, has thrown its full weight behind the “Poker for Athens” campaign. “Poker for Athens” is an organization whose ultimate goal is to get poker internationally recognized as a sport and sanctioned in the International Games. 'Since bridge and chess are recognized as sports in the International Games, why shouldn't poker?' said Phil Gordon, Team Full Tilt member and Bravo's Celebrity Poker Showdown Co-Host. 'Poker is a high-pressured sport that requires skill, stamina and dedication and is covered by leading sports networks and publications. Poker players work just as hard as athletes to perfect our game and we should be given the same opportunities to demonstrate our commitment to the sport.'

Others members of the team include such poker luminaries as Chris Ferguson, Phil Ivey, Howard Lederer, Erick Lindgren, Erik Seidel, Andy Bloch, Clonie Gowen, Jennifer Harman, and John Juanda. According to the Tiltware, the company behind Full Tilt Poker:

“The team has come together to raise awareness for this initiative and encourage other poker supporters to log onto PokerInAthens.org to sign a sanctioning petition, and connect with other enthusiasts.”
