Shulman Blames Disruptive Players for Poor Performance

Despondent poker pro Barry Shulman has spoken out about his experience at the Festa Al Lago tournament at the Bellagio, Las Vegas. In a post on his personal blog, Shulman criticised the composure of his opponents and suggested that this might have impacted on his performance at the tournament.

�I started by forgetting my headphones,� admits Shulman. �Normally I do not use or need headphones. Unfortunately, there was so much table chatter that I could not stand it. Nothing abusive, just constant yakking. I suffered through it for a few hours and was moved.�

Despite relocation to another table, Shulman says the experience worsened. �One guy took several minutes on every hand to make every decision,� he said. �One was whooping and hollering and one kept asking to see hands at totally inappropriate times.�

Shulman went on to attribute his poor performance, in part, to the rowdy players who destroyed his concentration. �I thought I played fine but I went out anyway before dinner the first day,� he said. �A consummate pro would still be playing his best game even when surroundings are difficult. But I have trouble on days when I would just as soon be elsewhere.�
