2007 World Series of Poker Confirmed

Harrah�s Entertainment has set the date for the 38th annual World Series of Poker. Bracelet-hopefuls have until June 1 2007 to clear their diary and practice their play for what is widely regarded as the pinnacle of the poker calendar. The final table of the highly anticipated $10,000 buy-in No Limit Texas Hold�em World Championship will begin on July 17.

The event will take place at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino and a complete schedule of events will be announced before the end of this year.

�The 2006 World Series of Poker was the best yet, but 2007 will be even better,� said World Series of Poker commissioner Jeffrey Pollack. �As a first step, we�ve moved the start date up and now we�re developing an expanded and well-rounded schedule of events for 2007 that will appeal to both professionals and amateurs.�

With a total gross prize pool of more than $171 million and in excess of 48,000 player registrations, the 37th annual World Series of Poker shattered every participation and prize money record for a live poker event. The top prize for the $10,000 buy-in No Limit Texas Hold�em World Championship, commonly referred to as the Main Event, reached $12 million and was taken home by former celebrity agent Jamie Gold.
