First Ever German Poker Open Begins Tomorrow

The cream of the world�s German-speaking poker talent is gathering in London this week for the first ever PartyPoker.com sponsored German Open, with heats kicking off tomorrow, October 17.

36 top German-speaking poker players and celebrities are competing for a total prize pool of �117,000, with first place receiving �50,000. The buy-in to the tournament is �2,500 euros and PartyPoker.com is adding the rest of the prize money.

�It gives us great pleasure to create the first ever event for German-speaking players. We�re sure it is going to be a great success and hope it becomes an annual event,� a PartyPoker.com spokesman said. �Germany hasn�t previously had an event like this though their players are amongst the most skilled and enthusiastic in the world.�

One celebrity player to look out for is veteran German international goalkeeper Uli Stein. �He almost single-handedly took Germany to the final of the Football and Poker Legends Cup in the summer and will be particularly well remembered for the way he destroyed an England team,� said the PartyPoker.com spokesman. �Uli has shown himself to be an opponent no poker player wants to go all-in against. He�s a big guy who holds big cards!�
