Christmas Comes Early for PartyGaming

PartyGaming has announced that its daily online poker revenues have recovered to $721,000 (£366,000) after falling to a daily low of around $637,000 after the US effectively banned internet gambling in October.

The company, which includes the popular PartyPoker.com brand, was hit when high rollers from outside of the US also moved to smaller online poker rooms which decided to take a risk and ignore the new law.

'Overall yield per active player day has been affected by the loss of higher-raking players, but this has been partially mitigated by strong levels of new player sign-ups that have averaged over 1,400 per day,' PartyGaming said.

Europe, the Middle East and Africa now account for a massive 67 per cent of revenues whilst just 27 per cent comes from Canada and Central and South America. As a result of the US ban, PartyGaming has cut 945 jobs – some 41 per cent of its workforce.
