Man Breaks Poker Playing Endurance Record

Larry Olmsted really showed his mettle this week by winning a place in the Guinness Book of Records for the longest ever sitting at a poker table. Olmsted, from Vermont, endured seventy-two hours of non-stop play at Foxwoods, the world�s largest casino, with only occasional breaks to visit the bathroom. Playing seven-card stud, he began with $100 worth of chips and finished with around $1000, most of which he gave as tips to casino staff.

Obtaining energy from a stream cheeseburgers and grilled cheese sandwiches, he drank more than thirty cups of coffee and six iced teas in an effort to stay awake. Toward the end of his ordeal, however, he admitted that his concentration had dwindled, adding that he �couldn�t read the numbers on the cards�.

Asked why anyone would attempt such a feat, Olmsted, who currently holds the world record for travelling the longest distance to play golf, explained: �It's not for the girls, or the money. It's for the glory.� Mr Olmsted, we salute you.
