£50 Says You’ll Read This

With the rise in popularity of online gambling, poker and poker on television, it was perhaps inevitable that the documentary makers would get in on the act. And tonight sees the start of a new series exploring the modern-day gambling phenomenon.

Presented by Hardeep Singh Kohli, Channel 4’s £50 Says You’ll Watch This sets out to uncover the truth behind gambling today and takes the viewer on a journey from the horses to spread betting on the Internet, taking in a healthy dose of poker on the way.

Over the course of 3 episodes we’ll see comedian Kohli taking £7,000 of his own money and embarking on a whirlwind betting spree in Las Vegas and across Britain to find out what's on offer, and what it takes to be a gambler.

He’ll also meet a few of the gaming world’s stranger characters and see the effects of gambling addiction first-hand.

As to whether he ends the series in profit or not, we’ll have to wait and see.
