European poker players in profile

Research commissioned by Everest Poker has provided an insight into the typical European online poker player.

Carried out by Jupiter Research, the survey took in customers from France, Germany, Netherlands, Sweden, Spain and Italy - and discovered that European online poker player is typically aged between 25 and 34, earning less than €35,000 a year.

Over 70 per cent of poker players - both online and offline - were male and this figure rose to over 80 per cent in Italy and Spain.

Germany saw the highest proportion of older poker players, with 32 per cent being aged between 32 and 44.

France and Germany had the highest female representation, with 34 per cent and 31 per cent respectively.

Poker is primarily played online for fun, as 75 per cent of the 2,000 respondents confirmed - although 28 per cent confessed that they played with the intention of making money.
