Thrash metal legends bid to thrash each other in poker war

What do you get if you put Pantera's Vinnie Paul, Sully Erna from Godsmack, Anthrax's Scott Ian, Ace Frehley formerly of KISS, and Dusty Hill from ZZ Top together around a green baize table? A death match.

The heavy rock stars are all taking part in the VH1 Classic Rock 'n Roll Celebrity Poker Tournament, which will be aired on March 14th on the music channel; but the rockers have warned viewers that it won't be pretty.

Players have hyped the tournament up as a death match of sorts. Vinnie Paul warned, on registering: "The cowboy from Hell is coming to town, winner takes all!" Godsmack singer, Sully Erna, responded by daring other gamers to "go ahead and try to SMACK me out of this tournament".

But even as the death metallers are playing up their parts, they are ultimately playing for a good cause. The cash pool winnings will be donated to the winner's charity of choice.

The event is sponsored by UltimateBet.tv and will be hosted by a legend in his own right, poker deity Phil Helmuth.
