From new millionaire to newlywed

Poker amateur Rodel Tuazon of Iowa hit the jackpot twice in less than 24 hours, after he scooped $1 million in a poker tournament win and got hitched shortly after.

Tuazon beat five Texas Hold'em rivals, including two pro players, to claim first prize at the Mansion Poker Dome Challenge on March 17th.

The 40-year old mortgage clerk finished the celebrations on becoming the USA's newest poker millionaire by wedding his fiancee, Manisone Douglas, in a good old-fashioned Las Vegas ceremony.

Tuazon could hardly have suffered from jitters after the Mansion Poker Challenge was broadcast to a primetime audience across the US and featured the nerve-wracking Mansion Speed Poker challenge which allowed players only 15 seconds to make their move.

On his way to the prize, Tuazon, who picked up a deck of cards less than three years ago, relegated odds-on favourite Dennis Waterman, a player with a 20 year long poker career, to second place.

Also eliminated was 28 year-old pro Rob Sherwood from Manchester, the only non US-finalist.
