Jamie ‘Hands up’ Gold off the hook

Current World Series of Poker title holder Jamie Gold will not be subject to retroactive penalties for showing a whole card and describing his hand at the WSOP main event last year.

WSOP commissioner Jeffrey Pollack stated that, ‘Tournament officials didn’t witness the incidents or take action at the time… We share culpability and are satisfied that the actions in question were inadvertent.’

Gold confessed during a New York Times Interview and was then interviewed by officials. He held up his hands and apologised, claiming that the excitement got the better of him. This may be a bit rich from the man with the best poker face in the world, but officials were convinced. Game commentators were sceptical at the time.

Pollack was keen to stress that ‘we do not condone any violations of the rules and will make every effort to enforce them in every WSOP event.’ The normal WSOP penalty would be sitting out for ten hands.

Having alienated many fans with the prize money scandal and actions during the WSOP, Jamie has been on a confessional PR mission.
