Jamie �Hands up� Gold off the hook

Current World Series of Poker title holder Jamie Gold will not be subject to retroactive penalties for showing a whole card and describing his hand at the WSOP main event last year.

WSOP commissioner Jeffrey Pollack stated that, �Tournament officials didn�t witness the incidents or take action at the time� We share culpability and are satisfied that the actions in question were inadvertent.�

Gold confessed during a New York Times Interview and was then interviewed by officials. He held up his hands and apologised, claiming that the excitement got the better of him. This may be a bit rich from the man with the best poker face in the world, but officials were convinced. Game commentators were sceptical at the time.

Pollack was keen to stress that �we do not condone any violations of the rules and will make every effort to enforce them in every WSOP event.� The normal WSOP penalty would be sitting out for ten hands.

Having alienated many fans with the prize money scandal and actions during the WSOP, Jamie has been on a confessional PR mission.
