Sheringham Gives Apprentice the Boot

Retired Footballer Teddy Sheringham, showed Andy Jackson the door for the second time in one week. After only ten minutes of a heads up game, Jackson, who has just been fired by Sir Alan Sugar on UK reality TV show, The Apprentice, had lost all his chips.

Jackson was the first of the contestants to be fired by Sir Alan, dashing his hopes of a six-figure salary, working for Sugar himself. Having quit his job to do the show, the car-sales man tried to stake his reputation on becoming a professional poker player.

The Sun newspaper decided to put him to the test. He told them 'I’ve been playing poker for a couple of years, especially online. I win more than I lose.'

Despite a promising first hand, Andy was battered by Teddy in ten minutes. The £500 stake money will be donated to charity.

Sheringham explained that he learned to play on the coaches going to and from games, and now plays for 'serious money'.

Andy is hopeful in the face of adversity, and still wants to go professional. He would welcome sponsorship from an online poker company.
