Planet Uninhabitable in Hostile Online Poker Environment

Planet Poker has decided to end all real money games on its site in response to the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA).

In a press release the management said that they sincerely regretted the decision but explained, “it has become impossible for a small card room to properly service their customers.'

Small they may be, having failed to fully exploit the growth of the online poker industry, but they have been around since January 1998. Planet were keen to stress that they hope to return to real money gaming should the UIGEA be repealed.

Customers will receive emails informing them of this development, and the preferred date (April 30) for transferring money out. While they are assured that ‘their funds are as safe as they have been for the last 9 years’, from May 1, a $10 per month service fee will be applied to any accounts containing real money.

Other measures:

• From 23rd March – no real money deposits

• Until 10th April – a no charge Transfer Now button moves funds to another card room.

• Convert $ to freeplay –tokens are good for tournament and whales tables.

• Until 30th April – Cashout still in place, but slow.
