Gold Decides to Fold

2006 World Series of Poker Main Event champ Jamie Gold has agreed to settle the dispute over half of his $12 million grand prize from the tourney.

In a joint statement released this week to the Associated Press, Gold and Los Angeles-based TV producer Bruce Crispin Leyser agreed the matter should be resolved 'without litigation.'

Contrary to reports in the press, the statement claims that Gold had always intended to share his winnings with Leyser.

'Jamie and Crispin are happy to report they have fully settled this matter,” the statement reads. “They are pleased to be closing this chapter and look forward to continued success.'

Gold defeated 8,772 players to win the WSOP tournament last summer in Las Vegas. Before turning into a poker pro, Gold worked as a celebrity agent.

Leyser sued in August 2006 claiming that Gold and he had agreed to split the winnings in exchange for Leyser helping Gold to find celebrities to play in the Main Event clad in Bodog-branded clothes.
