World Poker Association Nears Membership Milestone

As the World Poker Association (WPA) nears its 1,000th member milestone, the organisation is renewing its invitation for new members.

The WPA was established as a non-profit organisation by Jesse Jones with the aim of assuring the integrity of tournament poker by establishing fair and consistent rules and procedures.

Jones started his recruitment drive at the 2006 World Series of Poker, tirelessly recruiting hundreds of poker players, fans, dealers, and other tournament staff. Amongst the game�s top pros who have so far joined are Phil Hellmuth, Johnny Chan, Phil Gordon, Men 'The Master' Nguyen, Marcel Luske, Barry Greenstein and Daniel Negreanu.

Membership of the WPA has continued to rise, particularly in the wake of the decision by the US government to ban online gambling, and the organisation will seek to appoint a Board of Directors. A number of committees have already been formed and opportunities exist for members to get involved in a particular area of interest like ethics or media.
