Betfair.com, the Internet-based betting Exchange has launched its new Internet poker site, Betfairpoker.com, using software powered by Crypto Logic’s subsidiary, WagerLogic. Betfair, which is the eighth poker operator to use CryptoLogic for its expansion into online poker, hopes to capitalize on the growing popularity of the game, which has reported a ten-fold growth.
The operator, which claims a turnover of more than 50 million pounds per week, with over 200,000 registered estimates to garner a considerable share of the market, from poker, which accounts for more than 15 percent of the US$5.7 billion global online gambling market.
‘Betfair's entry into player-to-player online poker promises excellent synergies with its core person-to-person betting exchange business, and positions us well for increased market share, particularly in the UK and Europe,’ says Lewis Rose, CryptoLogic's President and CEO.
CryptoLogic’s interactive poker version features No Limit/Pot Limit games and multi-table tournaments besides expanded tournament options to hold free roll tournaments, where players get a free chance to win big prizes.
‘We are the clear leader in the global sports betting exchange market, and we’re taking our brand to new places with the online poker software,’ says Steve Ives, Director of Betfair Poker. The two companies believe with the new integrated poker platform, they will position themselves as a leader in the high growth online poker market.
