Monday 23rd April 2007 Card sharp dumps cheating wife
In a bizarre piece of blogging, Welsh poker wizard Dave 'El Blondie' Colclough announced to the world that he had dumped his TV presenter wife after catching her between the sheets with another man.
After finding Rhowena Colclough celebrating her 27th birthday with another man, her husband threw the pair out of their Birmingham apartment, changed the locks and then typed on his blog: "Came home from Monte Carlo to find my wife in bed with a 26 year old." The 43-year-old Camarthen card sharp was returning from the European poker tour when he made the discovery.
El Blondie deleted the blog entry shortly after he had posted it, but it was live long enough for the news to circulate. Speaking from the Irish Open in Dublin, he confirmed: "It's true. I flew home from Monte Carlo last week and walked right in on them.
"It's over, she's in London somewhere. Speak to her. There's not much more to say - I'm sitting at a poker table about to start a game and we are over because I caught her cheating, that's it."
Voted European Poker Player of the Year in 2003, Colclough married Rhowena, an ex-model who presented a poker show for William Hill on Sky 425, in 2005.
Although the Camarthen man has won around $3 million in his poker career, his luck was also out at the Irish Open, as Paddy Power reported that he was already eliminated.
But a friend of the couple had some words of consolation, saying: "There has been loads of gossip about what went wrong between the pair of them, but no-one really knows the details.
"Everyone knows there's a massive age gap between the pair of them, but Dave's a charismatic guy and has won millions of pounds at the table. I'm sure he won't be single for long."
