Online Casino Group Joins Bandwagon on Talks With US

Online casino and poker giant 888 has followed the lead of rival PartyGaming by instigating talks with the United States Department of Justice.

PartyGaming announced on Monday that discussions with the US Attorney’s Office where already in process to identify its stance in relation to the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA).

888 are counselled by the same legal practice as PartyGaming, Freshfields, which may provide an explanation as to why 888 has followed suit with its actions.

Although 888 has ceased its operations in the US, it is rumoured that the UIGEA was one point of contention in Ladbrokes potential purchase of the company.

888 remained wary of speculating on the potential outcome of the talks but confirmed it would update the public on any developments “if and when appropriate”.
