More stars to compete for charity

Even more celebrities will be showing their poker faces for a charity poker tournament in aid of the crisis in Darfur, with Gina Gershon, Shannon Elizabeth, Willie Garson and Brad Garrett all announcing that they will compete.

Another top poker pro has also thrown her hat in the ring, in the form of Jennifer Harman.

The Ante Up For Africa charity tournament will take place on July 5th at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino as part of the 38th annual World Series of Poker.

Designed by actor and Oscar nominee Don Cheadle along with ace poker face Annie Duke, it is hoped that the charity tournament will raise awareness about the humanitarian crisis in Darfur.

A private party will kick off at the Rio's Voodoo Lounge after the tournament has been decided.

The new round of stars to join the poker action will join other famous actors such as Ben Affleck, Brad Pitt, Jennifer Tilly, George Clooney, Matt Damon, Adam Sandler and James Woods, among others, all of whom plan to play if they are available.

Basketball legends Charles Barkley and Kenny Smith have also announced their intention to play, as have a great many poker pros including Erik Seidel, Howard Lederer, Phil Hellmuth, Phil Gordon, Joe Hachem, Barry Greenstein, Robert Williamson III, Phil Laak, Phil Ivey, Ted Forrest, Mike Matusow and Clonie Gowen.

Participants in Ante Up For Africa will donate half of their winnings to the project to help provide aid to the survivors of Darfur.
.
"Interest in this event is rapidly gaining momentum," said Jeffrey Pollack, commissioner of the World Series of Poker. "We encourage anyone who wants to enjoy a very special evening with some of the biggest names in entertainment and gaming while helping to ease the suffering of more than 2.5 million Darfur refugees to pre-register before the event is sold out."
