Anti-Poker Jibe Backfires on Chad Hills

Gambling analyst Chad Hills tried to rally his religious followers when he derided moves to send representatives to Washington DC to lobby on behalf of Americans wanting the repeal of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act. Unfortunately his comments backfired, prompting more people to take action against the bill, and sign up to an online petition.

The petition is hosted by petition site Care2 (http://www.thepetitionsite.com), which is an engine for civil activism across a number of issues ranging from animal welfare to human rights, as well as a number of environmental issues. It will be handed to every member of Congress and the Senate in Washington DC in mid to late July by representatives of Casino Gambling Web.

Following Hills’ comments, which ridiculed the poker players’ efforts at activism, the petition had an increase of 10% in only one day.

'In trying to rally his own followers,' said Gordon Price, gambling analyst and president of Casino Gambling Web, 'he inadvertently fuelled the fires of poker players who had their favourite past time taken away by the UIGEA.' He added that, 'The goal is 10,000 signatures, but the more signatures added the more lawmakers will pay attention.”
