Poker Tax For Sweden

According to several local reports, Sweden plans a special tax collection effort aimed at operators of poker websites serving as entryways to sites for on-line gambling.

The Swedish National Tax Board, or Skatteverket, said that it believes sites providing gambling-related content and links to gambling sites are paid for by every player who clicks through and officials said the undeclared income may be allowing operators of these sites to evade millions in taxes.

'It's not individual poker players we're after, it's sites who live on sending players through to gaming sites,' said Dag Hardyson, the National Project Leader for the Tax Board's Internet Unit.

Some Internet site operators may also be prosecuted for tax evasion in addition to being forced to pay on what they owe.
