Hellmuth and Enright Admitted to Poker Hall of Fame

Phil Hellmuth Jr and Barbara Enright have been admitted to the Poker Hall Of Fame, joining 33 other stars of the game including Doyle Brunson, Stu Ungar, Johnny Chan and Thomas James ‘TJ’ Cloutier.

Hellmuth made World Series of Poker (WSOP) history at this year’s event by becoming the first person to win eleven WSOP bracelets and has racked up a combined 121 total career money finishes worth almost eight million dollars.

The first female player to be admitted, Enright has earned three WSOP bracelets in a career spanning more than 20 years. Her first WSOP prize came in her first win, the Ladies Seven-Stud title in 1986.

The Poker Hall Of Fame is a Las Vegas-based collection of the most revered, respected and admired players in the game created by Benny Binion, the originator of the WSOP, in 1979.

Selection criteria for the Hall Of Fame are straightforward but standards are high, as a gambler must have played poker against recognized top competitors for high stakes and gained their respect. They must have also played consistently well and stood the test of time.

Last year’s inductees, TJ Cloutier and Billy Baxter had a combined total of 13 WSOP bracelets and joined the list, which also includes William ‘Wild Bill’ Hickok, Edmond Hoyle, Thomas ‘Amarillo Slim’ Preston and David ‘Chip’ Reese.

Hellmuth and Enright will have to wait before they have a physical display of themselves at the Poker Hall Of Fame as Harrah's, which purchased the WSOP in 2004, along with the Poker Hall Of Fame itself, has yet to erect a monument. A form of the Hall does still exist at Binion's in downtown Las Vegas, the original home of the WSOP, but it is not affiliated with Harrah's or the WSOP.
