Professor Rules Bournemouth

Pete ‘the professor’ Singleton has won the Great British Poker Tour event in Bournemouth, after battling it out over three days. The £500 + £50 tournament had a field of 139 other players who were a mixture of professionals and amateurs. Pete has played for over 20 years, though this win is his most notable success of recent years. The prize was £20,000, and Pete will now go on to represent his county, Cheshire, in the final as in addition to his cash prize he has received the £2,500 buy-in for the Tour’s Bristol event.

He said. 'I've been practising my tournament strategy for 12 months, and it paid off. I'm over the moon!'

Pete worked for EPT, doing background work, but his skills were noticed and he has since gone on to develop a career in producing and commentating on poker programmes for television. His CV includes The Poker Channel, The World Headsup and many others. Pete thinks that television has changed the poker world for good, and professional players will no longer be able to keep a low profile.

Singleton beat Paul Jackson into fourth place World Cup winning England Rugby star, Mike Tindall, cashed in 12th place, after leading the tournament on the start of day 2.
