Promoting Your Local Poker Game

The Poker Project, based in the UK, aims to promote social poker for all levels of player. The mini tournaments, usually hosted in pubs, are a great introduction to live games. The first attendance is free, but after that there is a £7 charge, which includes a meal for a meal and two mini tournaments. Clay chips and poker tables give the events a professional feel, and with no prize money at stake, atmosphere is friendly and relaxed.

Although The Poker Project is a non-gambling organisation, tournament results are entered into a league table, and consistent winners can play in regional events. Experienced ‘hosts’ are there to advise beginners and clarify any confusion over rules or protocol. Players often help each other out, sharing insights, tells, and war-stories.

For new players wanting to try out what they’ve seen on TV, or Internet poker players looking for some live action, The Poker Project is an excellent introduction to live play, as well as hooking people up with other enthusiasts in their area.

The website is easy to use, and you can search for your local game by region or day of the week. ‘League Venues’ can be checked out at http://www.pokerproject.co.uk/index.php for your nearest game.

More hosts are required, so if you would like to set up a Poker Project in your area, go to ‘careers’ at the bottom of their web page.
