Poker player swaps Lancashire for Las Vegas

A poker player from Lancashire could be set to hit the big time during his stay in Las Vegas.

The Lancashire Evening Post reports that professional poker player, Jonathan Kalmar, one of the last nine still to be competing in the $10,000 World Championship No Limit Holdem.

Held in the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino, Mr Kalmar has managed to fight it out with some of the best talent in the world to make it into the final nine and now he is hoping to go all the way.

"Before I entered this tournament I was just about to jack it in and come home, but from the moment I won the first heat, I've been confident I could win the whole thing," he told the Lancashire Evening Post.

Already guaranteed a prize pot of £250,000, 'Kalie the Skalie' was among the overnight leaders with over £10 million in chips and in with a good shout of winning the full £4 million jackpot.
