Tuesday 15th May 2007 PKR UNVEILS THE SUPER SERIES
London, 15 May, 2007 – Following on the enormous success of their groundbreaking Springfest 2007 promotion, PKR.com has announced a major summer poker festival that is set to be the most exciting online poker event of the season – the PKR Super Series.
Timed to coincide with this year’s World Series of Poker*, the PKR Super Series rolls from July 14th to July 28th with 14 days of events designed to give players a shot at big prize pools with low tournament buy-ins.
“A lot of the focus this summer is going to be on Las Vegas and the World Series*. We wanted to give players who can’t make it the opportunity to capture some of that excitement without having to pay the big buy in,” said PKR Cardroom Manager Neil Wright.
The PKR Super Series will test player’s skills in a variety of exciting tournaments. Events will include a ‘Super Stars’ bounty tournament, a ladies only event, a ‘Young Guns’ event restricted to players between 18 and 30 and a Seniors event for older players. The PKR Super Series will culminate in the featured Main Event – a $100 buy in tournament that promises to offer PKR’s biggest ever tournament prize pool, surpassing the Springfest Main Event prize pool of almost $40K. Players who play in the Super Series Main Event, plus any other three Super Series events automatically get a place in a special ‘Thank you’ freeroll.
Winners in each category, plus the top finishers in the Super Series leaderboard will show down in the PKR Super Series Tournament of Champions where they will play off for some very special prizes (the Springfest Tournament of Champions winner received a seat in the 2007 World Series of Poker).
In keeping with PKR.com’s penchant for innovation (and fun) the Super Series will wind up with a ‘Bubble trouble’ tournament. Every player that gets knocked out ‘on the bubble’ in any PKR Super Series event will play off in a special tournament with the winner taking a crate of Champagne. Hard luck never tasted so good!
