The professional poker players have descended on Australian shores for this year’s Australasian Poker Championship, each one hoping to cash in their chips as Champion of the Southern Hemisphere. A colourful cast of characters will converge in the exclusive Crown Casino in Melbourne for the championships, aka ‘the Aussie Millions’, to compete for the main event prize pool of a cool $1.5 AUD million this weekend.
Poker seems to have exploded into the popular consciousness in recent years attracting a wider audience and a newfound glamour and, perhaps more importantly - respectability.
