Betfair Signs Norwegian Phenomenon

Leading betting exchange Betfair.com has announced that it has signed up Norwegian online superstar Annette ‘Annette_15’ Obrestad as one of its sponsored professionals.

Obrestad, who turns 19 next week, is from the small town of Sandnes near Stavanger and has been increasingly focussing on her live game. Better known by her online moniker ‘Annette_15’, she was long ranked as the world’s best online tournament player and was the first non-American to be ranked number one. She began playing poker at age 15 after seeing an advertisement for an online poker site during a bowling program on television and will now join recent World Series Of Poker Europe (WSOPE) bracelet winner Thomas ‘Buzzer’ Bihl on the European circuit.

“I am very happy that we reached an agreement and I am happy it was Betfair,” said Obrestad. 'Their management and poker client software are both something I really like. I am looking forward to being a good ambassador for them and can focus on getting good results.'

“We are thrilled to get Annette on our professional poker team and have great belief that we will be seeing a lot of her in the years to come,” said Frode Helland, Norwegian Marketing Manager for Betfair.com.

“In our opinion, she is one of the world’s best online tournament players and we are sure that she will have great success playing live as well.”
