WSOPE Leaders and Losers

The second day of play of the World Series of Poker Europe Main event saw the field narrowed down from 111 players to only 40.

“The Brat” Hellmuth knocked Chris “Jesus” Ferguson out of the running when they went all in together. Hellmuth (A-10) got lucky when Jesus’ A-Q sank on the river which brought “The Brat” a miracle 10. At the end of the day Hellmuth was in 39th place with 10,500 chips.

Some people think a certain London Casino is named after player and journalist Vicky Coren, who can be seen there mining Pot Limit Omaha tables. We think it could be the other way around. However, she didn’t suffer from a change of game or location. Her A-9 was granted two pair on a flop of A – 9 – 2 against Brian Townsend’s A-10, which got no joy from the rest of the board, giving her all his chips. She finished the day in 29th place with 39,500 chips.

Top of the board with 349,400 chips is Gus “The Great Dane” Hansen who saw off both Ram Vaswani and Greg Raymer. Ram couldn’t match Gus’s K-K, and Greg had nowhere to go but home when up against a full house of 7-7-7-5-5.

Following within sight but not on his heels are Jane Lamsa with 253,8000, Pat Scanlon with 240,000, Annette Obrestad with 214,400 and Annie Duke with 191,7000.
