Friday 21st September 2007 Annette_15 - Exclusive Post WSOPE Interview in Bluff Europe
Teenage poker sensation Annette Obrestad is the poker phenomenon that took the world by storm when she became the first woman and youngest poker player ever to win a Main Event at the World Series of Poker.
Annette, whose persona has long been shrouded in mystery, has been the subject of obsessive speculation on Internet poker forums for some time. This victory signifies her emergence from the shadows into the limelight. To celebrate, Bluff Europe will be releasing a series of interview outtakes over the next few weeks, in the lead up to the exclusive full, post-win interview in Bluff Europe Magazine’s October Issue.
Eighteen-year-old Obrestad (who turned 19 days after the main event finished), beat off 362 runners to win £1,000,000 ($2 million) and the coveted gold bracelet. Best recognised by her online handle, Annette_15, the young Norwegian tells all in an emotionally charged interview held moments after winning the poker world’s highest honour, and its £1 million cash prize.
In the first transcript from the Interview, Annette explains the method of playing like a Jedi Knight:
“After you get a lot of experience you get to know when people are weak and when people are strong, and you don’t really care about your cards. I played this online sit-n-go tournament with 180 people and I stuck a Post-it Note over my cards just for fun and for practice, and I managed to win the whole thing.”
