Tuesday 25th September 2007 Anne Boleyn is poker fan
It has been revealed that rising British actress Natalie Dormer, who plays Anne Boleyn in the BBC's new drama series, The Tudors, enjoys a hand or two of poker.
The actress told the Times that while shooting the second series of the programme in Dublin, she is missing her poker buddies terribly.
"I'm missing the circuit out here, so I've got all my cronies on a plane in two weeks' time," she told the newspaper. "I started playing in the sixth form."
"There were five boys to every girl, so it was, 'Welcome to a man's world'," she added.
However Ms Dormer was quick to point out that she has never been into playing strip poker. "Not that sort of poker," she told the reporter. "I kept my clothes on." However, the poker fan has got her kit off for her career in the past, after she played Victoria in Lasse Hallstrom's Casanova.
The 23-year-old had to put in a burlesque performance for the part. "They shot the whole film in Venice, and my first day onset was so hot, I was straddling a fan with five layers of petticoats around my waist, in front of 20 Italian crew," she explained. "So I said, 'Let's cut through the crap and have a bit of fun.'"
