Full Tilt Poker Issues ‘Bots’ Refunds

Following public outcry, leading online poker site FullTiltPoker.com has reportedly responded to accusations that poker ‘bots’ are playing within its rooms by issuing refunds to those affected.

The subject of controversy, ‘bots’ are a type of malware not controlled by a human player. ‘Bots’ do not express fear or shame and also can’t recognize a bluff so they play by mathematics not emotions.

The website has faced criticism for allowing bad ‘bots’ to hack onto its site and play poker and has also apparently frozen suspect accounts for further investigation. The ‘bots’ reportedly played on FullTiltPoker.com’s Texas Hold’em Limit cash tables and possibly at some no limit-style tables.

Although ‘bots’ have been common in online gambling and poker for several years, it has been almost impossible to catch them as they seek out new players that are still naive about the online gambling world.

Malicious ‘bots’ are also known for harvesting e-mail addresses from contact forms or guestbook pages and inundating them with messages from less than reputable companies and individuals offering services or products.

However, not all ‘bots’ are bad as, for example, Google’s ‘bots’ scan websites for content then lists news stories to be part of the its listings.
