Beirut man banks at poker tourney

The winner of the European Poker Tour London's Main Event has been announced as 47-year-old Joseph Mouawad from Beirut.

The father-of-three was an online qualifier and banked £611,500 of the £2,038,400 prize pool for his victory over a field of 391 poker fans at the Grosvenor Victoria Casino.

Despite starting the final table as chip leader, Germany's Florian Langmann was beaten in the Head's Up, after Mouawad produced three queens. He won £346,528 for second place.

The two English players who made it to the final table were also the first to exit the competition. Ian Cox was eliminated first, but still received £57,075 for his trouble. Paul Mendes was knocked out next, though he pocketed £77,459 for finishing seventh.

Josh Egan from New Zealand finished in fourth, which was worth £152,880 to him while Marcel Baran netted £203,840 after being knocked out next.

The next stop on the European Poker Tour will see the Baden Classic played at the Casino Baden in Austria from October 7th to10th.
