Legal Grey Areas Could Benefit New Dusk Till Dawn Club

There has always been controversy surrounding the possible launch of the Dusk till Dawn poker club. The Nottingham based club finally had something to celebrate though with the news that it had been granted a license by local magistrates.

The magistrates granted the club a poker-specific licence, despite objections from local casinos who argued that the Dusk Till Dawn club would not attract sufficient interest to support its opening.

However, there are still some legal grey areas surrounding the new club. The licence was the last one that will be granted under the 1968 Gambling Act, with the 2005 Gambling Act having recently replaced the former on September 1. What is interesting is that the 2005 Act states that any business operating with any kind of gambling licence is automatically permitted to host all forms of gambling. In theory, this leaves the door open for Dusk Till Dawn to consider other casino games on its site.

Rob Yong, Managing Director of DTD stated that, 'Though we did consider having slot machines at the club, we have now reconsidered, and despite the conditions not being legally binding, we will abide by them as a sign of good faith.'

Dusk Till Dawn is expected to be the largest poker club in Western Europe, boasting 45 poker tables, and is currently scheduled to open its doors in November.
