Poker Reunited

In the UK, terrestrial broadcaster ITV has announced a deal with PartyGaming that will see the online gaming company provide poker on Friends Reunited, the social networking website ITV acquired for $240 million two years ago.

The Gibraltar-based gambling group already provides Emmerdale and Coronation Street-branded bingo websites for ITV along with backgammon and casino sites tied to ITV Play, the broadcaster's call-in quiz division. ITV Play's revenues dropped 65 per cent over the first six months of the year following call-in show scandals and its future has now been announced as under review.

PartyGaming has been searching for new revenue streams since its exit from the US market last October following the passage of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) and said that this was the first in a series of ‘white label’ deals with household brands in the UK and elsewhere. Its stock neared an all-time low in August when it closed at 27 pence after being at 107 pence before the Act was passed.
