Haligon wins Poker Stars Sunday Million

With the World Championships of Online Poker now but a distant memory – OK, it was two weeks ago – Poker Stars resumed its normal schedule this weekend with the Sunday Million. The biggest event on the weekly online calendar, this week’s tournament had more than 6,300 sign up for the $200 event, only marginally down on the number of entrants on the last Sunday Million held prior to WCOOP.

A total prize pool of over $1.2 million was up for grabs, and for a while it looked as if Team Poker Stars player Steve Paul-Ambrose was in great shape to take it down. However, it wasn’t to be as the 2006 Caribbean Adventure WPT Champion eventually bubbled the final table and cashed tenth for just over $5,800. Another well respected online pro, Faraz 'The-Toilet 0' Jaka, also came close to a final table showing when he eventually busted out in 12th place.

After a four-way deal and finishing first, Haligon (aka Josh Ewing) won more than $130,000 after beating TeamWispy heads-up.

Meanwhile, in some of the other big online tournaments this weekend, there was a similar story for one of Full Tilt’s latest signings Jared 'TheWacoKidd' Hamby as he tried his luck on the ‘UltimateBet $200K Guaranteed’ event. Hamby eventually went the same was as Paul-Ambrose did and bubbled the final table, this time for $1,600.
