Absolute Poker facing accusations of ‘Super User’ accounts

A potentially huge scandal is brewing at the doorstep of Absolute Poker, which has been accused by some members of the online poker community of hosting ‘superuser’ accounts – accounts which could access information about other players’ holdings.

The allegations started a while back, but it is only with a recent development that the debate has become more serious. In response to earlier criticism, Absolute Poker posted an official statement via Mark Seif’s blog, saying that it had no evidence of any superuser accounts. It accused the online community of narrowing in only on certain hands, and that it had access to more data which proved there was no wrong doing.

One of the players who was in the tournament, and was defeated heads-up asked for the hand history. However, he received a little more than he was expecting - an excel file which showed every not just his hole cards, but everyone else’s as well. The file was encrypted, but has been slowly unravelled and the hand history has been posted at PocketFives.com.

The evidence does seem to show Potripper making some incredible plays, calling a bet on the river ten high when his opponent had a busted nine-high flush draw, and folding KQ in an unopened pot when someone else had pocket Aces.

There does appear a case for Absolute Poker to answer on how this player seemed to play almost perfectly. Then again, perhaps it was just Phil Hellmuth…
