WCOOP Champion TheV0id Disqualified

It seems that controversy is king at the moment. Whilst Absolute Poker investigate allegations of superuser accounts on their site, Poker Stars announced that their investigation into the winner of their flagship online tournament has been disqualified. All other finishers have been bumped up a spot, with the cash settlements being made in the next 24 hours.

In a text posted by a member of the Stars security team read:

“The investigation into the WCOOP Main Event has now been concluded. We have determined, based on the totality of evidence, that the tournament winner 'TheV0id' was in breach of the Poker Stars Terms of Service. In the interests of Game Integrity, 'TheV0id' has been disqualified from first place. All other WCOOP Main Event prize winners in addition to the player who originally bubbled in 415th place will therefore advance one place in the prize pool. The necessary financial adjustments to reflect the revised tournament places will be made within the next 24 hours. Please note that we are unable to release further details of this investigation, for reasons of confidentiality and privacy.'

This is something of a benchmark for other poker sites which may come across similar security issues, and one which has cost TheV0id well over $1.2m. The runner up ‘ka$ino’ will now collect an extra $530,000, Team Poker Stars pro Vanessa Rousso has a windfall of nearly $250,000 and Josh Arieh, who confirmed he was playing on the account ‘nitbuster’ moves up one spot from sixth to fifth.
