Wednesday 17th October 2007 LParreira Wins Poker Stars $40K Blogger Freeroll
Sometimes players need to vent their thoughts about bad beats or outstanding plays. Of course, with online poker it’s a little different to live poker and so many turn to poker blogs. The Internet is littered with thousands of musings about the fine game, and they provide a mix of entertainment and insight. Every year Poker Stars runs a freeroll tournament to reward the bloggers of the world, and this Sunday saw the third edition.
A total of 1,337 played in the Poker Stars World Blogger Championship of Online Poker, and put up a whole variety of prized to be won by the scribes. In the end a Portuguese blogger, ‘LParreira’, won the first prize of a $12,000 Poker Stars Caribbean Adventure package. That tournament is part of the EPT circuit, and will be played out in early January 2008.
The prize pool contained over $40,000 of goodies, including a 50-inch plasma TV, tickets to big buy-in events on the site, poker tables, chips sets, a computer monitor, and more.
The final nine players of the tournament showed just how global the Poker Stars brand has become, with representatives from no less than seven countries. To take part in the event, players had to post a graphic advertising the WBCOOP on their blogs, and the blogs had to be verified as being active for at least two months before the start of the event.
