GUKPT Latest – London Leg Underway

The Grosvenor Victoria, recently host of the EPT London event, has now opened its doors for Leg 9 of the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour. The event attracted over 430 entrants, and Day One had been split into three parts, with the remaining players merging into a single Day Two today. Play will conclude on Sunday night.

Entrants to the tournament included GUKPT Plymouth winner Julian Thew, John Tabatabai, Surinder Sunar, Lucy Rokach and Ian Fraser. The chip leaders going into Day Two are Barkatul Hassan Mohammed on 104,150, Simon Randall 99,450 and Adam Heller on 93,900, with Surinder Sunar doing best of the big name entrants on 61,000. The form man of the moment is certainly Julian Thew, but he won’t be adding the GUKPT London title to his Plymouth title or the EPT Baden win. The William Hill sponsored player was knocked out after he pushed a short stack with KJ only to be called by AQ. No improvement sent Thew to the rail, something of an unfamiliar feeling for the Nottingham-based player lately.

The final table will be filmed for transmission on Channel 4 and first place will be taking home �129,590 as well as a seat for the Grand Final at the close of the season.
