High Stakes Poker Just Got Higher

High Stakes Poker has proved to be a hit with the poker public, with some of the biggest televised cash action ever broadcast. Well, apparently the stakes weren’t high enough as it has been announced that the minimum buy in has been made a cool half a million dollars.

There will be seven episodes featuring the higher level buy-in, and the line up of players is a charming blend of the usual suspects and new faces.

Amongst the big hitters coming back to the felt are Sammy Farha, Barry Greenstein and the biggest of them all, Doyle Brunson. Also joining them will be a Las Vegas high stakes cash specialist in the form of David Benyamine, as well as Antonio Esfandiari. Esfiandri, like Sammy Farha, has played in all three of previous seasons of High Stakes Poker.

The line up includes a few more interesting faces. Jamie Gold, 2006 WSOP Main Event winner will be sitting down, being replaced in one episode by Daniel Negreanu, another regular face on the show. Patrik Antonius will be representing the Scandinavians, and the line-up is completed by something of an unknown quantity in Guy Laliberté. The Frenchman is the co-founder and CEO of Cirque du Soleil, and the billionaire will be donating a portion of his winnings from the game to charity.

The episodes will be airing in the USA on November 2nd, so expect them in Europe soon!
