Annie Duke draws in the poker punters

Poker fans headed for the San Manuel Indian Bingo and Casino in California recently to meet well-known professional player Annie Duke, it has been revealed.

Ms Duke, who is sometimes referred to as the Duchess of Poker, handed out autographs at a recent Texas hold 'em tournament at the Californian casino, where a total of £50,000 was on offer in prizes.

A thousand players eventually took their seats at the final stages of the tournament and while two players also took home big money, it was Carlos Chavez who ultimately earned himself the £25,000 first prize payout.

The Gambling News Review service reports that the event proved to a great success and notes that Ms Duke enjoyed the chance to meet her fans and see some competitive poker being played.

It was revealed last month that the women's only ladies camp operated by the World Series of Poker is to take place at the Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Nevada.
