Law school backs poker

One of the most respected law schools in the US is turning to poker to teach its students how to succeed in the worlds of business and law, it has been revealed.

Leaning about the tactics used around a poker table can offer useful insights into how to assess risks, exercise self-control and understand psychology, according to some of teachers at Harvard Law School.

A range of seminars with poker-inspired themes are now being taught at the institution, including 'Poker: A Game of Truth in Life and Law' and 'Law as Rhetorical Poker', reports the Bostin.com news service.

Harvard Law School professor Charles Nesson is quoted as saying: "People who are into poker have a lot of trouble holding on to absolutes.

"To me, it's a way of thinking liberally and seeing what the world looks like from another person's point of view."

Students come from around the world to attend classes at Harvard Law School, which claims to be the leading centre for legal education and research in the US.
