Gus Hansen has got it all, right? A leading poker pro, WPT titles for fun, and barrages of fans around the world, all raising with total nonsense in his honour. Well, ‘The Great Dane’ has been on something of a heater this month, so far showing a $1.75m profit on the Pot-Limit Omaha games at Full Tilt.
Things didn’t start too smoothly though:
'I had a really bad downswing at Full Tilt. I was actually pretty happy about the way I played, but my money management and my steam control weren't very good,' Hansen confessed in Danish newspaper Ekstrabladet.
'But then things turned around. To make a long story short, I won $1,750,000 in four days.'
That’s over $425,000 a day. During that spell, Hansen was primarily cleaning up on the $200/$400 Pot Limit Omaha games, multi-tabling up to four games simultaneously. To keep his interest up, he also dabbled in a little Omaha Hi-Lo and H.O.R.S.E.
Some of the ‘best bits’ of the four day streak include:
Making a full house on the river to win a $167k pot against Ilari Sahamies – aka ‘Ziigmund’ - who had flopped the nut straight.
Flopping the nut straight against Patrick Antonius’ flopped top set, scooping a $147K pot.
Hitting runner-runner straight after getting all his money in bad against ‘google12345’, who had flopped a set against Hansen’s top pair, taking down a $104K pot.
'I hope my good run continues,' Hansen writes. You got to like how understated the lad is, haven’t you…
