New cards teach poker skills

A new deck of cards is hitting the shops this Christmas, which offers poker players tips, game strategies and teaches poker terms.

The Texas Hold'em 101 Playing Cards, made by Poker Prima Divas, each have a top tip printed on them.

For example, the Ace of Spades lists the most common amateur mistakes, while the Six of Clubs tells players the odds of drawing a Royal Flush.

A mini cheat sheet is provided with each deck of cards designed to fit into a pocket or purse.

"If you want to be in the game, you've got to be at the table," said Ellen Leikind, founder of Poker Prima Divas in New York, which claims to teach poker to girls "so they can play with the boys".

"Poker is hot, strategic, and mind-bending, and it's not just for the guys anymore," Ms Leikind said.

The firm suggests that poker is not just a great social and networking opportunity, but has also helped many women to sharpen up their business skills and become more comfortable taking risks.

Poker Prima Divas teaches poker classes to suit for women's initiative programs and newly formed teams for between ten and 200 people.
