40-year-old Virgin winner

A 40-year-old father of five has won the Virgin Poker Festival, bringing home £7,000 in winnings.

David Young, from Dursley, won the competition with a hand of three jacks at the event, which pitted him against 200 competitors from across the UK.

"My children will be getting some very nice Christmas presents this year. The money has already been spent," Mr Young told the Gloucester Gazzette.

Although he admitted loving the Las Vegas lifestyle and enjoys playing poker there whenever he can, he admitted he does not plan to quit his job as a paint stripper in an effort to become a professional stateside.

"I like the idea of playing poker professionally but it is a hard way to make a living. For now I just enjoy playing - and winning," he said.
