Boris Becker to become poker pro?

Tennis star Boris Becker may have hung up his tennis racket for a while now after winning six Grand Slams, an Olympic gold medal, and being named men's singles champion at Wimbledon, but it seems his competitive edge had not left him.

The tennis ace has always been a fan of poker as a hobby, but now PokerStars reports that he is becoming serious about the game.

According to reports, Becker has started a poker training regime in order to hone his poker skills to those of a professional and wishes to take part in some of the major poker tournaments in the world.

Starting with the Dortmund leg of the European Poker Tour (EPT) in his homeland in January next year, he hopes to progress to the Grand Final in Monte Carlo.

"When I was still playing professional tennis, I started learning to play poker casually in-between games because it helped me to improve my concentration," Becker said. "Now I want to develop my poker skills and challenge myself to become really competitive at the highest levels in poker."

So will we be seeing a tennis star, such as Becker, Henman or McEnroe winning next year's World Series of Poker? You can not be serious…
